back to basics

OKAY Y'ALL

So as we are starting at the beginning here, I thought I'd start with my skincare routine. It's really working out for me for me at the moment for a number of reasons that I'm going to explain, right now. Please be aware I have real problem skin so this isn't for the faint hearted!

1. Cleanser

At the moment I'm using the Deep Cleansing lotion from Bare Minerals. As mentioned before, I used to work in beauty so my first exposure to Bare Minerals was through having it PR'ed to me, and I was pretty sceptical. But, it's actually changed my entire perspective on skincare, so much so that a few of the products you'll see pop up are Bare Minerals. The cleanser is really creamy, you literally need a pea sized amount and it foams up to cover your whole face. It's not great with Mascara, but I find just using something like Cetaphil on my eyes before hand does the trick. I highly recommend it!

2. Exfoliator

Okay, so you are either one of those people who love going into Lush, or hate it. I LOVE it. What I hate about it at the mo is that Lush is so expensive in Australia! Count your blessings if you are in the States or UK. Anyway, I'm using Sea Salt. I love it! I even like how it tastes. Maybe its because it has Vodka, Salt and Lime in it. So maybe avoid it on a hangover. Bwa ha. I picked up this recommendation from Dara at belledujournewyorkcity.blogspot.com, and now I'm slightly obsessed. Its great for just getting that gorgeous smooth feeling. Also, I buy another pair of exfoliating mitts especially for my face. Sometimes it just needs a good ol' scrub.

3.Toner

So I tone once every evening, at the advice of my facialist. I had never heard of this brand before I went to my new facialist - Dee at Clear Skin Clinic in Double Bay, Sydney. She's amazing, the extractions are something else (they have "instruments") BUT wow the results are insane. Anyway, they also prescribe you a few items, including this one - the main seller for the salon, which they nickname "the zit killer". Its really closed up my pores and dried up any blackheads I had. Apply it with your hands- strictly no cotton allowed- and pat dry with clean hands. I use Clinique Blemish Gel with this for maximum spot killing action. It's hard to find so use the below link to find your nearest stockist.

4. Moisturiser

Again a big spend but well worth it, I use Creme de la Mer. I bought a 90ml tub of this last year and I still have it. Its pretty thick, but the trick is to use barely any. Put it on your fingers and rub it between your hands, and literally dab it on your face, like you are kind cupping it?! (Weird I know). i love it. Us It on drying spots, dab on eyes to avoid crows feet, I even put it on chapped lips and they just magically heal. Well worth the spendage.

5. Night Cream

Okay, so I don't use night cream, I use Bare Minerals Pure Transformation Night Treatment. HOW DO I LOVE THEE? Let me count the ways....
1. Its a powder. No oil slick rampage for me.
2. It's a tinted powder. The powder is naturally tinted. I WISH I had had this when i was single. Single girls out there, go and buy this by the bucket load! It doesn't come off on your pillow AND weirdly I always look better in the morning now.
3. Its just fab. Dries spots, moisturises eyes, its crazy. Again I was presented this at a PR day and the story behind it was amazing and straight away everyone just went a bit mental for it.

So alas here is the story of what I do with my face, every day. I highly recommend all of the above! I love it so much I have to ask friends to bring it back from the States (not availiable in Australia!)

US $60, www.bareescentuals.com

All this is nothing however, if you don't look after yourself. The best thing for your skin is everything your Mum would tell you. Drink water, Exercise, and smile your pretty bot bot off.
